The story of Bob Hammette's company is one of family legacy, innovation, and dedication. It all began with his grandfather, Floyd (Frank) Hammette, and father, Ray Hammette, who laid the foundation for the Hammette family’s long-standing presence in the industry. Building on this strong base, Bob Hammette took the family business to new heights through a bold vision and innovative ideas.

In 1987, Bob revolutionized the family business by introducing the concept of direct importing. Seeing the potential to source high-quality products at competitive prices, he began traveling to China, establishing relationships with suppliers and bringing new opportunities to the company. His hands-on approach and ability to adapt quickly to market changes allowed the company to expand its product offerings and grow rapidly.

Behind Bob’s innovation was his wife, Janie Hammette, who played a crucial role in shaping the company’s product line. From the dining room table, Janie began engraving key chains and knives on a small machine, adding a personalized touch that set the company apart from its competitors.  What started as a humble operation has grown into a full-scale engraving enterprise, now housed in a fully equipped warehouse.

Today, the company’s production is managed by Danny Giberson, a seasoned production manager who oversees a busy warehouse filled with items ready to be engraved. From corporate gifts to custom orders, the company has maintained a reputation for quality and reliability, thanks to the team's meticulous attention to detail.

Family continues to be the backbone of the company. Bob's daughter, Holly Hammette, has been involved in the business for 31 years, following in her father’s footsteps. Like her father, Holly has traveled to China numerous times on buying trips, forging connections and maintaining the company’s high standards for imported products. Her deep industry knowledge and sales expertise have made her a key asset to the company.

The Hammette legacy is now moving into its fifth generation. Bob’s granddaughter, a recent graduate of Florida State University (FSU), has entered the industry, taking on a role with a large supplier. Her involvement ensures that the Hammette name will continue to have a presence in the industry for years to come.

In addition to family members, the company has built a loyal team of associates who have been with them for over 30 years. These associates, based in Orlando, Royston, GA, Tifton, GA, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Chicago, have become like family, playing an integral part in the company's success. Their long-term dedication speaks volumes about the company’s commitment to its people and the strong relationships it fosters.

Helen Taillefer, who has served as the office manager for decades, has been instrumental in the company’s smooth operations. Dedicated to developing office processes, training staff, and overseeing all financial matters, Helen’s expertise and commitment have been vital to the business’s long-term success. Her ability to streamline operations and manage the financial health of the company has provided stability and efficiency, allowing the company to focus on growth and innovation.

The Hammette family’s story is one of hard work, innovation, and a commitment to quality that has spanned generations. As the company continues to evolve, it remains deeply rooted in the values and traditions that began with Floyd and Ray Hammette, continuing to thrive under Bob’s leadership and the contributions of future generations.
